| Facing the Huanghai Sea in the southeast and linking
the Qian Mountain in the northwest, the Immortal's Cave
Nature Reserve is located in the north-of Zhuanghe County
on the Liaodong Peninsula.
Belonging to the Qian Mountain Range with an altitude
of 681 meters above sea level of its main peak, the
Reserve was established in 1981 with an area of 3,574
hectares. Influenced by marine climate in summer, the
Reserve enjoys a temperate monsoon climate with fresh
air and abundant water resources.
The Reserve lies in a transitional belt between the
two plant families of Changbai and northern China regions,
and on a rendezvous between the Palaearctic north China
and northeast China regions, featuring a variety of
biotic species zonations. The Reserve houses 810 species
of higher plants. The representative species of plant
families in the Changbai region are Mongolia oak, yellow
pineapple, northeast China ash, ginseng, azalea, etc.
and the representative species of plant families in
northern China region are Japanese red pine, Chinese
pine, etc. Under the fine ecological environment live
here 196 species of vertebrates including wild animals
under key national .protection, such as golden eagle,
white¡ªtailed sea eagle, otter, etc.
The Reserve is also rich in water resources, especially
the mineral water containing 23 trace elements of medicinal
value.
