| ª¥ª¥The China¡¯s Biodiversity Conservation Fund(CBCF) is
a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization, and an independent
social group corporation specialized engaging in biodiversity
conservation, ratified and registered by the government of
The People¡¯s Republic of China, The People¡¯s Bank of China
and The Chinese Association for Science and Technology. Its
predecessor is The China¡¯s and David¡¯s Deer Fund for conservation
of rare, precious and endangered species established in 1985.
Conservation of biodiversity is the hot spot of current
world environmental protection and is paid close attention
and supported by the whole community. At the United Nation¡¯s
Environment and Development Conference of July, 1992, held
at Rio de Janeiro, the largest international conference since
human history with 183 countries and regions participated,
passed the Convention of Biodiversity. China was one of the
signatory states of the Convention. The biodiversity is generally
understood as the diversity and variation of plants, animals
and microorganisms, as well as their genetic variations. It
includes ecosystem diversity, species diversity and genetic
diversity. The resources of China¡¯s biodiversity is extraordinarily
rich. The overall objective of biodiversity conservation is
to realize the virtuous cycle in ecosystems, to ensure the
richness of biodiversity, to promote perpetual use of living
resources, and to ensure good foundation for national economy
and social sustainable development. Recently, large number
of works concerning the biodiversity conservation have been
accomplished by our government and various domestic specialized
organizations, and these works were supported extensively
by the whole society and relevant respects. For the sake of
strengthening the biodiversity conservation works further,
and basing the demands of developing circumstances as well
as suggestions from relevant experts and specialized organizations
both domestic and abroad, the China¡¯s Biodiversity Conservation
Fund has been established.
It is the aim of CBCF to mobilize the whole community to
be concerned about and to support the biodiversity conservation,
to implement sustainable development strategy, to set up satisfactory
homeland for human being. Its main missions are: to propagate
and mobilize the public to have deep love for nature, to enhance
consciousness of conservation and to take active part in biodiversity
conservation, to maintain liaison widely with friend corporations
and personages to supply supports and funds through various
channels so that the aim of CBCF could be realized, to organize
academic exchanges and cooperations both domestic and abroad,
to carry out scientific investigations, to spread scientific
achievements, to provide consulting services and to carry
on personel training. To raise funds of specialty and award
so that the corporations or individuals who made extinct contributions
in conserving biodiversity could be funded or awarded.
The highest organs of power of CBCF is the executive council.
It is consisted of famous experts, scholars, celebrities and
other representative corporations and individuals enthusiastic
in biodiversity conservation. Various works of CBCF are actively
pushed foreward under the leadship of executive council. As
to the management of fund, independent, sound accountant,
audit and supervise systems will be set up, and they will
accept the examine,inspect and control from higher level departments
responsible for the work, repect the wishes of donators, and
ensure that the funds of CBCF will be used to subsidize those
activities and undertakings which accord with regulations
of CBCF.
Biodiversity is the foundation for human survival and development.
Conserving biodiversity and ensuring the perpetual use of
biological resources is a global assignment and is also an
important content of coordinating environment and development.
The sign of the United Nation¡¯s Convention of Biodiversity
marked that the work of biodiversity conservation is just
entering a new stage of development. It is the duty of everybody
to conserve biodiversity. The CBCF hopes wholeheargedly to
carry out exchange of friendly vesits, to support and collaborate
mutually with corporations and personages who are enthusiastic
in conservation works. Let ns earnestly perform the Convention
of biodiversity, and jointly make contributions to the undertaking
of biodiversity conservation!
